Opera on the Avalon is an exciting new performance program for young, gifted classical singers and pianists. The program is based in historic St. John's, Newfoundland, North America's oldest and most beautiful city. It offers promising young singers an opportunity to immerse themselves in an intensive program of opera and song repertoire with distinguished faculty. Up to 75 talented singers and pianists will be chosen for this three week festival.
Opera on the Avalon participants will participate in an intensive curriculum of rehearsals, dramatic preparation, song repertory, diction and movement classes, body mapping, private music coachings, and master classes taught by resident artist-faculty and guest artists.
On Stage:
Mozart Requiem: June 8th and 9th at the Anglican Cathedral. 8pm.
Puccini's Suor Angelica and Gianni Schicchi
June 20-23 at the Holy Heart Theatre, 8pm.
June 23 Matinee, 2pm. Children under 12 are free when accompanied by an adult.
June 24th at the Garrick, Bonavista, 2pm.
Performance time is 2 hours and 15 minutes with one intermission. All performances will be sung in Italian with projected English subtitles.

Opera on the Avalon annual aria recital series at D.F. Cook Recital Hall are one of the most beloved summer traditions in the city.
Please join us for intimate evenings of art and song in performance by the artists of Opera on the Avalon. Our popular recital series features some of the greatest tunes ever written for the operatic voice, performed by the next generation of opera’s greatest stars.
Concerts are at 8pm and are held at D.F. Cook Recital Hall at the Memorial University School of Music.
