Unveiled on July 1, 1924, this monument serves to honour the soldiers of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment of the First World War. It is located on Water Street and rises up on a graduated plateau featuring five bronze statues that represent Newfoundland's involvement in the war (Newfoundland didn't become a part of Canada until 1949). At the top of the monument stands a female figure, which represents Newfoundland's willingness to serve.
